Hanna House is set up to foster a supportive and safe recovery environment. To help encourage this, Hanna House has developed a healthy and encouraging set of rules.

Cardinal Rules

Violation of Cardinal Rules will result in immediate discharge from Hannah House.

  1. No drugs/alcohol (use, possession or sales)
  2. No weapons
  3. No threats of violence
  4. No violence
  5. No stealing

Intake Requirements & Rules

  • At intake, a urinalysis will be administered and MUST be negative. Subsequent urinalysis will be administered randomly or for cause. Test failure or failure to submit will result in immediate discharge. Please note that a reasonable suspicion of the use of synthetic substances (i.e. Spice, Kratom, bath salts, etc.) will cause termination of residency.
  • Rent for this residency is $150 per week. Rent is due on Friday. Failure to use earnings to pay rent is grounds for discharge. In the event of resident moving out prior to the end of the term for which rent has been paid, due to discharge or personal choice, the balance of the rent will not be refunded. Any property left at Hanna House will be stored for 14 (fourteen) days before being donated or disposed of.
  • Curfew is 11:30 PM Sunday through Thursday, and 1:30 AM Friday and Saturday.
  • Until 90 days of abstinence from substances, residents are required to be back at the property by 11 pm, except for work, unless accompanied by another resident with at least 90 days clean or another reliable individual (i.e. sponsor, fellowship member, etc.). Please note that intake restrictions are subject to modification based on the needs and history of the resident.
  • All residents will be present for House Meetings unless previously approved for absence.
  • Absolutely no slurs regarding race, religion, sexual identity, nationality, or gender identity. Everyone is equal at Hanna House and discrimination in any form will not be tolerated.

Accountability/Meetings

All residents are required to attend three (3) meetings per week, one (1) of which can be a religious fellowship. The other two MUST be an accredited 12-step fellowship or comparable organization. Note: Although work is important, it is not acceptable as an excuse for not attending the required number of meetings. The purpose of Hanna House is to strengthen your integration into long-term recovery.

Employment

  • You are required to be employed or seeking employment while at Hanna House. Residents who become unemployed are required to actively seek work. Due to the cost of operating the facility, rent deferrals and extensions will not be granted.
  • Residents that receive monthly income benefits are required to seek and participate in a volunteer/community service activity.
  • Certain types of employment are not allowed. Speak with the house manager regarding any questionable employment opportunities that might compromise your recovery (i.e. working in bars, clubs, etc. as these will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

General House Rules

Visitors

In our quest for successful re-entry into society, Hanna House encourages its residents to have visitors! Visitors are to leave the property by 10 PM every night of the week, with no exceptions! Visitors are allowed in the common areas and grounds of Hanna House but are prohibited from entering any bedrooms. All visitors are subject to Hanna House’s rules and are subject to being banned from the property for any violations.

Designated Smoking Areas

Smoking is not allowed in any part of the house. Smoking is to be done outside the house, and all cigarette butts are to be discarded in the ashtrays and butt-cans provided. Consequences will be assigned if a resident is caught smoking in the house for the first time, and discharged from the house immediately if caught a second time.

Cleanliness

  1. We will maintain a clean and orderly environment for the safety and comfort of all residents. There are no maids at Hanna House. All residents will actively maintain personal hygiene, cleanliness of personal areas, and participate in the cleaning and upkeep of common areas and property.
  2. All residents will be assigned daily and weekend chores. Any resident that does not perform and maintain their chore duty will be subject to consequences from the House Manager.
  3. Your room area must be kept neat, with your bed made when away from your room. Dresser tops need to be organized, rugs vacuumed, floors swept, and clothes hung properly. No unsealed food containers are allowed in bedrooms. All rooms are subject to inspection at any time, and any room that does not pass inspection may cause its residents to have consequences.
  4. The kitchen area is to be always kept clean, which means no glasses, dishes, silverware, etc. left in the sink. Trash is to be disposed of in a timely manner. Residents are to clean up after themselves after cooking. Failure to comply could result in a loss of privileges and repeated noncompliance could result in termination of residency.
  5. No personal items are to be left in the bathrooms, and residents are required to clean up any mess they make so the next man can have a sanitary bathroom environment.
  6. Any delegation, assignment, or request that is made by the House Manager is not merely a suggestion; it is a directive that needs to be adhered to without argument in the prescribed time.

Overnight Passes

Overnight passes are based on the exhibited quality of a resident’s recovery and are determined on a case by case basis. Any resident returning from overnight stays will be subject to drug/alcohol testing.

Loans/Borrowing

There is to be no sharing of clothes, personal property, loaning money, borrowing vehicles (including bikes) by house residents. You are not to provide another resident with any more than you are willing to lose. This is a risk you take when you place your property in their care.
